Kailua Headworks Improvements
The city of Kailua and the areas around it are rapidly expanding in both residential and commercial sectors. Therefore, the Kailua Wastewater Treatment Plant was required to upgrade their entire headworks facility in order to keep up with increased demand. Our team worked with the design engineer firm to select the equipment that was best suited for this project based on many factors such as equipment footprint, performance, efficiency, cost etc. We provided the majority of the process equipment including the JWC headworks screens, Hydro International Grit Removal System, and Daniel mechanical odor control system. Because of the new system and processes put in place, the new headworks can accommodate up to 50 mgd and removes a large majority of the large incoming solids, wipes, grit, rocks, corn, etc. The new and improved odor control system mitigates unpleasant smells from the headworks facility which is located in an urban neighborhood.
